This series of 9 small paintings and 1 large composite is inspired by one of the few mathematical concepts a young Emily ever grasped and has remained completely fascinated with: permutations.

The color combination in this piece also appears on the larger composite painting, creating a sort of color puzzle. These 10 × 10’s can be arranged in any order on the wall or enjoyed individually.

Emily’s minimalist, textural paintings seek to bring craft into the context of fine art by literally stitching thread through artist’s canvas, presenting what was traditionally a women’s medium in the context of historically masculine painting.
