Welcome to my Studio

I can’t remember a time in my life when I didn’t think of myself as an artist.

I studied art history in New York and Florence, cities that place huge value on high art. But I also grew up sewing, making jewelry and building cardboard dollhouses. My work is equally informed by it all.

My minimalist, textural paintings seek to bring craft into the context of fine art by literally stitching thread through artist’s canvas, presenting what was traditionally a women’s medium in the context of historically masculine painting.

Color is always my driving inspiration. I’m a huge believer in its emotional powers - my favorite being joy. My goal is to create moments for people to immerse themselves in pure color.

My happiest place is tinkering in the studio. Living in a digital world, most of us are so far removed from using our hands as tools - even losing small experiences like pushing real buttons instead of a touch screen. It makes me crave the texture of physical materials, layering paint, thread, raw canvas, color.

In life and in my work, my mind is constantly seeking organization and order at the same time my heart is begging for curiosity and play. The result is a balance of hard edges, soft fibers, straight rigid lines and loose brushstrokes.

My art has been featured by Anthropologie, Alexandra Gater, Real Simple, Emily Henderson, Clever and Parachute Home.

I currently live in New York City - with dreams of a country house and a red barn turned art studio. When I’m not in the studio I love exploring the city, hugging trees, reading, reorganizing my closet and mentoring other artists.
